A Rustic Farmhouse Bedroom & En-Suite in Earls Colne, Essex
Spires Interiors recently completed work on a new build project in Earls Colne, near Colchester, Essex, including the design and installation of a master bedroom and en-suite, new kitchen and open-plan dining space, utility room, and guest bedrooms.
We enjoy being able to transform the homes of our customers, but designing the bedroom furniture for this customer was, in particular, a lot of fun. Developing ideas on colour schemes and furniture styles directly with the customer, as well as our workshop team building bespoke doors to match the bathroom furniture provided by Utopia.

Developing ideas on colour schemes and furniture styles directly with the customer, as well as our workshop team building bespoke doors to match the bathroom furniture provided by Utopia.
The master bedroom utilises a headboard manufactured using Landau fronts to mirror the style of the wardrobe doors. Our workshop team created the boxing to be clad with the panels and the drawer units. By working closely with our suppliers we’re able to create amazing spaces using innovative solutions that are not just functional, but will also stand the test of time.

The colour scheme for the whole of the upstairs of this home was warm but remained neutral. It started with the bathroom vanity unit from Utopia’s Roseberry range and the colour in that informed the colour for the main bedroom and the second guest room, creating a unity and flow between the rooms. We colour-matched the Utopia colour for the other bathroom furniture and the main bedroom and went a shade different for the guest room to keep some continuity. The customer wanted their guest room to have dual use, using it as their dressing room when not in use. By installing a lower worktop with a vanity table, it makes a more usable space for the customer to get ready.

All the key elements of this project, including the downstairs kitchen, dining space, and utility room renovation, came down to flexibility and being able to manufacture elements ourselves as well as work with our suppliers to manufacture bespoke doors, panels, sloping doors, and finishing touches that gave the customer everything they wanted.

The showroom team helped us to select a great design. They listened to what we liked and didn’t and were able to present thoughts and recommendations which made it so much easier to make a decision. The project management team had everything lined up really well for the actual installation and everyone involved in it was excellent, being as clean and as least disruptive as possible. We would definitely use them again for future home improvement projects.
