An Eye-Catching Outdoor Dining Space near Colchester, Essex

Whilst we specialise in kitchen and bathroom renovations and bespoke indoor joinery, the trend toward bringing the outside in is ever-growing. With many of us looking to make the most of the summer months with cosy outdoor dining and entertaining spaces, Spires Interiors recently transformed the outside space of this Colchester home to include a stunning covered entertaining space.

The centre-piece of this new dining space is a large, bespoke Sapele wood pergola. Sapele wood is a versatile hardwood timber, well known for its heavy strength and durability. Compared to other redwoods, like Mahogany, Sapele is considerably denser and hard-wearing, ideal for an outside space built to look good for years to come. With a dark stain to the wood, the guttering added to roof of the pergola doesn't stand out too much.

On top of the pergola is a mounted glass roof, which not only protects and cover the occupants of the pergola, but also keeps the space light and airy. This glass roof extends down the side of the pergola, flush with the exterior wall to create a cosy, encapsulated space that acts as the centrepiece of a stunning outdoor area.
