Kitchen Case Study

A Classic Shaker Style Kitchen in Colchester, Essex

The kitchen is the beating heart of the home. Not only is it where you prepare the food that fuels us through the day, but it’s also where we socialise and bond with family and friends. Our kitchens are a true reflection of who we are and the life we choose to live, whether that be cosy and welcoming, cool and contemporary or wild and exotic.

Like most of the kitchens we work on, this stunning open-plan installation in Essex needed to be multipurpose, fulfilling the practical and social needs of the family.

On this occasion, the kitchen units had been supplied by Wickes, where we are an Approved Installer, so our team was commissioned to do a “dry-fit” whereby we assemble, customise and fit the furniture, together with instaling sinks, appliances and all the additional fixtures and fittings.

Even when purchasing an “off the shelf” kitchen it’s still vital to have it properly installed by an experienced fitter, who will ensure the kitchen is finished to the very highest standards.

The finished kitchen combines stylish shaker style cupboards in a beautiful shade of blueish-grey, with stunning laminate worktops that are a dead-ringer for real marble and a butler sink that would look at home in any up-market townhouse.

The open plan layout ensures the cook can still be part of the action, with an island and breakfast bar that’s perfect for Saturday morning brunches and a grand dining table that was made for dinner parties.

There’s also tons of storage space in this kitchen, with a floor to ceiling larder in the corner unit, overhead units above the American style fridge/freezer and a built-in wine cooler.

Finished with polished silver ironmongery, a grand range cooker, cool glass light fittings and rose-gold accessories, this kitchen is simply to die for.
