A Modern Kitchen full of Accessible Features in Tiptree, Essex
Inclusive, accessible kitchen design has advanced a lot in recent years, and with hand-picked suppliers like Callerton consistently innovating in the space, kitchen design options for disabled people and those with mobility issues are now greater than ever. Spires Interiors recently renovated this kitchen in Tiptree, Essex to make it even more accessible and user-friendly for our customer.
With this project, our customer was looking for something modern and stylish but also low maintenance. She had recently moved into the property and, on top of the kitchen renovation, we also designed and installed a new en-suite bathroom, internal doors, removed the old water cylinder after replacing the boiler, and converted the cupboard into storage.
Despite it being a relatively large room, the customer wanted to keep a dedicated dining space to retain the social aspect of the kitchen, meaning the kitchen design had to be efficient and functional. Plenty of drawers and pull-out options mean that every space is optimised and easily accessed. The handleless rail is must more effective than the typical J-Pull door allowing better grip and easier use of the kitchen. Every space is utilised and on the peninsula there is a hidden pull-out unit so we didn’t waste the corner.
By having a Quooker boiling water tap, vital worktop space is freed up without the need for a kettle. With plenty of preparation and serving space on the peninsula, the customer is able to make a cup of tea or breakfast with ease and without having to walk across the kitchen to put hot items down on a safe surface.
Mirroring the stainless steel rails in the appliances adds to the aesthetic and draws the eye around the room with fluidity. The dresser unit adds character by allowing the customer to display her best glassware and crockery. The blue and grey combination is very popular at the moment, with the darker floor and light worktops it's not a cold room, making it perfect for entertaining or catching up with friends over a cup of tea.
